Kathryn - Nature Girl
While the boys are big readers , Kathryn is different and as someone reminded me, and that is good. For instance she had gone on a nature hike last week at Girl Scout camp and learned alot of different things. Then this week at Cole Park she in turn gave her classmates a nature hike, she pointed out stripped maple trees, wild strawberries ( which they ate while hiking), and so on. Her teacher was so impressed and called her nature girl.
At home she has always been my " country girl" , shoes are optonal, need tadpoles in the spring ask Kathryn, want to find her reading look in a tree. When she does read she perfers fact type books about nature and animals ( um maybe I should place some science books in her reading basket), and she remembers these facts. In the summer she feeds herself breakfast and snacks by going for walks, she eats strawberries, blackberries, rasberries, tomatoes, what ever she may find on her walks.
In her desk is not papers but her " collection" snake skins, bird nests, rocks, dried flowers and so on. Outside in the summer she makes more "collections" under the tree, these are usally live ones that I do not want in my home. All the pets in the house love her ( even when the poor cat wears baby clothes ), and while she had dolls she never played with them, she perfers the stuffed bennie size animals.
I need to slow down and spend some time in Kathryn's world as it is really a very nice world. And did you know that some grass she picks and chews taste like lemon.
Doesn't her world look like so much fun.
