The world is a adventure
I just came in from spending some time looking at the world from the point of view of a 3yo. There is so much in there world and ours that we just overlook. First it was all the mailboxes, we live in a rural area and have mailboxes that are up by the road. They are something that normally I do not notice, but Aidan pointed out each mailbox and what he liked about each one.
Then there were the flowers, really weeds, the few that have surivied the frost, that last little bit of summer hanging on as long as it can. Of course there were the leaves, the reds, yellows, and greens. The way they crunch when you stomp on them, and the way the crunch in your hand. And don't forget barns, they are a source of great things for a young boy, that is were the horses and chickens live.
On the way back from our walk we stopped at the big hill of dirt, soon to be our winter parking spot and sat for a while. Aidan climbed to the top of the hill and looked out, seeing more of the world then he normally does. And then he got all excited, at first I could not see what was making him so excited, but then I saw it. It was the smallest little catapiller, crawling along the ground. This lead to a whole story about where was he going ( home), who was at home ( mom, dad, kids), and were was home ( under the leaves).
As adults we spend alot of our time rushing to and fro, busy with life, but it really is nice to once in awhile take the time look at the world through the eyes of a child.

Why do you do what you do
As I was cleaning the house I was confroted with a fact that I have a problem. One that was not likely noticed by others around me, but a problem never less. Over time my reason for doing what I do, and that is keep a house, has changed, and not for the postive.
In days past each day my goal was to make my home a better place for my family. Hot meals, clean clothes, and making sure the house was a place my dh wanted to be afterwork. The reason behind my work and that of the kids was to make a home for us. It wasn't perfect, but we worked at it.
Then it changed, I don't really think it was a sudden change, but one that happend slowly. I no longer had the kids clean up before dad would get home, there was no longer kids waiting each day to hug daddy at the door. Yes dinner was still on the table most days, but the meal time changed it was no longer a time to talk and visit, but how fast can we eat and go.
My reasons for cleaning were not to make our home a place for us, but because the speech teacher is coming, or someone else is coming. I cleaned for guests, but not my own family and that is a problem. And since I was doing this the kids also picked up on this and began treating our home the same.
So now that I have found the problem, and that it is a heart issue of placing guests before family the question is how do I fix it. How do I once agian place my family first, how to I change the reason I clean to "this is something dh would like or the kids would like" from " someone is coming time to pick up".
This is something I need to think some more on, off to go pick up the house before dh gets home tonight.

Mondays have turned into baking days around here. Here are two of my new favortie bread recipies.
This one is for a Italian bread recipie, and I do double it making 4 loves of bread. It is a very crusty dense bread great for soups.

And here is my new favortie banana bread recipe and it uses no eggs. Also makes great muffins. I made it only using white flour with no problem. I added the chocolate chips, and not the nuts
